Department of Statistics and Insurance Science
The Distance Education initiative in the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science will function as a Distance Learning Unit at the University of Western Macedonia, aimed at providing distance education across the broader area of Western Macedonia. The unit will offer various digital skills courses, including training on the Moodle, Zoom, and Skype for Business platforms, as well as Wiziq Live Class, Big Blue Button, and WeBEX for digital classes. Other courses include training in developing cognitive objects, study training, discussion forums development, simulation games development, student activities planning, teaching video production, peer review forums, feedback material creation, modern evaluation techniques (Formative Assessment), stress management, best practices in teaching and learning for distance education, development of digital classes (e.g., e-class or e-me), quiz creation, and understanding the New European Personal Data Protection Regulation in the context of distance education.
