Approval of the Creation of Observatory in the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science. Mr. N. Sariannidis introduces the members of the Senate to the subject by stating that this is about Approval of the creation of an observatory in the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science. Suggests positive for the creation of the Observatory. Here is a discussion and the body of the Senate, considering:

  1. The provisions of PD no.92/2003 (A ’83 – “Establishment of the University of Western Macedonia”),
  2. PD72/2013 (A ‘119 -‘ Renaming of a section, section merger and Establishment of the Conservation and Reconstruction of Schools at the University of Western Macedonia”),
  3. The provisions of Chapter C (Articles 13–22 – “University of Western Macedonia”) of N. 4610/2019 (A ’70 – ‘Universities and TEI synergies, access to tertiary Education, Experimental Schools, General State Archives and other provisions”),
  4. Decision No. 137444/Z1/6-9-2019 of the Minister of Education and Religions (YDDD 709/9-9-2019) on “Appointment Rector and Four (4) Vice-Rector University of Western Macedonia”,
  5. Paragraph 2 of article 13 of Law 4485/2017 (A ‘114 -‘ Organization and Functioning of Higher Education, Settings for Research and Other Provisions”),

  8. The recommendation of the competent Vice -Rector, unanimously decides to create an observatory in the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science as follows: Observatory Social Web Observatory and Data Analytics

The ongoing strategic development of the University of Western Macedonia (PMM) requires Collection, processing and continuous analysis and interpretation of a series of data both from the space of PM and other academic institutions in the country, Europe and worldwide. For This purpose, is established the Social Web Observatory and Data Analytics in the Department Statistical and Insurance Science in the PMM.

  • The Social Web Observatory and Data Analytics will operate under the auspices of the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science in accordance with academic rules Ethics set by the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science and the PMM.
  • It will be hosted on the website of the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science.
  • It will be made up of a Coordinating Group, FDM faculty members who will form the general his policy and will ensure the quality of data and results of analyzes provided on his website with coordinator and scientifically responsible for Anastasiadou Sofia, Professor of Statistics and Research Methodology of the PMM.
  • Will focus on issues related to European education policy and Modern educational problems associated with the academic course of students, with problems facing students belonging to sensitive social groups such as students with disabilities, foreign students, multiculturalism Students, minority students, expatriate, and repatriate students etc.
  • Will focus on issues related to student needs analysis as and with the satisfaction of students and graduates from their studies. • Will focus on matters associated with Covid-19 and will be concerned with knowledge Students and PDM staff for pandemic, ways of protecting from infection with Coronavirus, as well as their view of dealing with a pandemic.

In addition to the Covid-19 Coronavirus, the academic community of the PDM, will may take important initiatives in terms of study but also addressing the phenomenon through the observatory. There will be focused actions Understanding but also dynamic record and monitoring of statistics multiple factors, development of applications as well as publication of scientific Articles. Also, data will be presented:

  • For the total confirmed cases in the Region of Western Macedonia.
  • For the total confirmed cases per region.
  • For total recovery incidents in the Region of Western Macedonia.
  • For % death rates in confirmed cases in the periphery Western Macedonia.
  • For % death rates in confirmed cases per region.
  • For percentages % of confirmed cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
  • For % death percentages per 100,000 inhabitants.
  • For % recovery rates in the Region of Western Macedonia.
  • For mortality by Covid-19 among the countries they experienced and still to experience the disease.
  • For the socio-economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in the region Western Macedonia. o for the collection, processing and analysis of quantitative and quantitative data related with the attitudes of citizens of the Region of Western Macedonia against Covid-19 pandemic.

The coordinating team will be able to organize scientific workshops at regular intervals, round tables or other events for the Observatory’s responsibility issues. The observatory He will post results of his research, as well as scientific publications of faculty members of the PMM on his website.
